Shared Khata (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Shared Khata mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

To provide the core functionality of the app, Shared Khata may collect the following information:

Account Information

When users sign up or log in using phone number authentication (OTP verification), we may collect:

  • Phone number (used for login and authentication)

  • Name

  • Email address

  • Profile image (optional)

This information is collected only during the first signup process to create the user profile.

We do not use this information for advertising or marketing.

2. Contacts Permission

Shared Khata may request access to device contacts to help users easily add members to a ledger.

Important notes:

  • Contacts are used only to select and add members to a ledger.

  • Contact data is not stored on our servers.

  • Contact information is not shared with third parties.

Users can deny this permission and still use the app manually by entering phone numbers.

3. Data Storage

The app may store the following information for functionality:

  • User profile data

  • Ledger information

  • Member information

  • Transaction records

Data may be stored:

  • locally on the user's device, and/or

  • securely on cloud services such as Firebase if synchronization is enabled.

We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.

4. Permissions

Shared Khata may request the following permissions:

Contacts – to help users add ledger members

These permissions are used only for the specific features described above.

5. Third-Party Services

Shared Khata uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) – for authentication and secure data storage.

Firebase may collect limited technical data required to provide its services.

6. Account Deletion

Users can delete their account and associated data directly from the app.

To delete an account:

Profile  → Delete Account

When an account is deleted:

  • the user account is permanently removed

  • associated user data stored by the app is deleted

7. Children's Privacy

Shared Khata does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy if the app features change.
Any updates will be reflected on this page.
